Behind the Screen: The Duel 2: Episode 9 - Discussion

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

This challenge is gonna be funny...

Um, well, jobs come and go. No masters, no law school.
Thanks for answering. I was surprised to hear them talking about Brad's job situation. I am glad they added that, though, because it shows a different side of things. I'm glad they are adding a different element in the mission (though they still have the heights element in play). I'd feel a LOT more comfortable with spelling compared to the other missions.

I've pretty much felt the same way the whole time, whenever an argument is shown between them. Right now with this, I do lean towards Brad's idea of leaving things be until they get home, just because of the cameras and atmosphere. The challenge is almost over at this point as well. But I totally understand Tori not wanting to leave things unanswered and unsettled. It would be very hard for me to do that as well, even though feeling it was best to leave things off the camera. It's got to be hard to be upset with someone you love and have them be upset with you and not be able to resolve it. I also think it must be hard to be planning to get married and not have your financial situation set in terms of a job.
Emotionally, I'm a lot like Tori, so I completely get why she wants to talk now and leave nothing unsettled. But at the same time, I appreciate Brad not wanting their discussion to be with all of the cameras around. I'd be just as much of a wreck as she is, I'm sure, but I'd be able to see Brad's side of it, and I wouldn't push as much. Knowing more about their situation outside of the game helps me to understand (a little) what frame of mind they were both in, and that the game wasn't the only thing causing problems for them.

Lots of people have phobias. It is one of the reasons height missions are interesting. I'm not sure there is any nexus between growing up and jumping from a height of 150 ft. Perhaps you could enlighten me.

I like Tori and Brad, but can they call each other cupcake or honey once in a while?? I am sick of this "baby"talk.. LOL

LOL there isn't... I just find hights simple to deal with.. I guess others don't.
TheQuietOne#44
I would've spelled "millenium" right, but only because I was a boyband FREAK about 10 years ago...
Queenoflove#45
Just came by to say FRATE??? Brittini you're d u m b. That is all.
Morris1721#46
Hmm so Brad cant spell thronE? Interesting...haha
Isabella#47
Not surprised Rachel won. Rachel seems not only strong but very well spoken and intelligent. I can't believe those girls missed words like freight and exercise. How the hell can you spell throne like thron. What the hell Brad?
Anonymous#48
Oh boys. I'm hoping it's harder to spell while 100ft in the air. If not, these people should not be on TV.
RW561015#49
I do feel bad for people who are afraid of heights, though, that most of the missions have been height missions. There is usually more of a variety. I think Tori may just be a little emotionally drained and not really feeling in a mission focusing mood, especially one up in the air. I am typically good at spelling, but I do admit I was debating whether an "a" or "e" was in the later part of arithmetic! I typically just use the word "math."

I missed it. How did he spell it? He should have asked for a definition.

He left the "e" off it. I thought he was going to think it was "thrown" instead (and I was thinking it wouldn't be fair if he didn't know which one TJ was referring to, but he got it wrong either way).
TheQuietOne#54
Noooo MJ! He was so close! He looked like he dropped a lot faster than the others, it seemed.
RMD1#55
WOW MJ... Bad spell.. LOL...
LCbaby#56
Thrown or Throne? "Can I have it in a sentence please!" lol Oh, I am so jealous I can't watch right now. Rachel won for the girls..did Mark win for the boys?
RMD1#57
It's like they are giving Mark the harder words!!
Queenoflove#58
They would give Evan that word lol.
Isabella#59
I feel so much smarter than these people. I would have easily gotten all those words right. Even svelte. I'm hoping it's just the height that threw them off. lol.
