Behind the Screen: The Duel 2: Ep. 3 - Discussion

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

Nor does he care to know, and I think that might be the bigger problem. People like Paula (and I don't think it's a coincidence that it's the person with low self esteem that threw herself at him) just enable his bad behavior.

Whoever is not in the alliance. They need to take lessons from the master manipulator, Wes. Wes was the biggest outcast on both challenges he did, and he manipulated everyone. Not so much on FM, but he did awesome.

Oh kinda like he made that deal with Evan to take out CT? And also how he made that Alliance with Beth, Nehemiah, and Aneesa? Or am I off?

Actually, it was Beth who put together an alliance the week before in LA with Wes, Nehemiah, and Svetlana. Aneesa was an on-site addition.

Oh so that was a pre-show alliance? Didn't know that.

You are right he flew under the radar for the most part but he did basically carry Casey on Fresh Meat. Although the way he treated both Casey and Johannna on both challenges was atrocious IMO.

Of course, which is why I didn't like him on that challenge. I still think he is the all time master manipulator.

Really? I never saw him as a manipulator on the Duel. He was an outcast but he did VERY well on the Duel 1.

Are you kidding? He set up the whole CT-Evan duel.

Very well? He won the whole thing.

I don't understand why Evan fell for that. It was a dumb moment for him (that and having a cheat sheet for the elimination). That's why I haven't thought Evan has put his intelligence to use well in challenges, although he is injecting some of it into this challenge, but his game plan isn't going so smoothly right now it seems. I wonder what is going to happen when people find out what he is doing. I can't even remember Wes really being sneaky in order to goad Evan into doing picking CT. But I don't have many vivid memories of that challenge. I guess I just thought it was common sense not to pick CT because he's such a strong competitor. Wes did well on that challenge, obviously, but I don't see him as a "master" like so many people do, though he obviously is into strategy.

Is there an aftershow after tomorrow's episode?
Dartagnan#318
I would believe so TJ.

I don't see a problem with what Wes did on the Duel 1. Evan AGREED to the deal. He didn't blackmail Evan or force him into it. I think the episode made a big deal about it because Evan was nervous about going in with CT.

If there isn't an aftershow for episodes 4 & 5 who's gonna be doing The Dish? Was the aftershow that Rachel, Aneesa, and Jenn did gonna be for 6 & 8?
