That was the first dance and the reason I just about turned it off. The entire backstory about watching the show in prison was too much for me, lol.

Samantha had to bring it up too. Tom's mention of Rykers Island (the NYC prision complex) was completely over the top. ABC was doing her no favors with that kind of attention.

Haha, that sticker on Melissa's back is obviously covering up a tramp stamp. My favorites of the night were her and Shawn.

I understand why they hide those type of things up on a show like this as it is meant to be classy, but there is nothing wrong with a little body art. However, if you want the middle America vote - cover it up.

I hate the stereotypical referencing, I know that's what people call tatoo's on the lower back now, but I hate it! I have one my self that is very tasteful, and I can assure you that I am no tramp. Obviously Melissa is my favorite, and she can dance. I hope she does well, so far she is ahead in the polls!

Here is an article by Karen Hudson about this tattoo stereotyping. The Infamous Tramp Stamp and the Women Who Wear Them - Are the Rumors True? Having read it, and now feeling educated a little, it is certainly a phrase I'll avoid. It intentionally casts an aspersion that is insidious when unsupported by fact. (Not to suggest that anyone here has used it in that way. I'm a terrible mind reader.)

Don't be shy LM. Here, I'll post the picture of your tattoo from your myspace album as it is great! :wink2:

I have a small tattoo also. The term doesn't bother me much. I can see how it would though. Bacchus, I don't even want to know why "that" is red. Ick.

Hmmm... Free advice. Nonpublic figure + absence of truth = big legal bills. :sofa:

If that person was using their real name, which they are not. They are in effect anonymous. Thus I will continue the charade. :D

Holy cow! I can't believe we have the same tattoo!

Good Golly Bacchus! If that was my tattoo, I might let you call it a tramp stamp;) Are you sure this tattoo did not come out of Insider's computer?

Oh wait, I was confused. You're right. It was Insider's photo! :blum:

Don't hate on my art work. I drew it myself! I told the guy to color it purple, not red!

Damn, no ambulance chasing for me today apparently... :(

The ratings are in and it looks like there was a Melissa effect: ABC won the night in overall viewers and the 18-49 demo thanks to the return of Dancing With the Stars. Dancing bowed with 22.5 million viewers, nearly a 7% improvement from its fall 2008 premiere when it averaged 21.1 million. Last night averaged a 5.9/15 among adults 18-49 vs. the September 2008 premiere which averaged a 5.4 rating in the preliminary overnights. It’s also up vs. its spring 2008 premiere (3/17/08) where it had a 5.6 rating in adults 18-49. [via TVBYTHENUMBERS]

She offered a ratings boost because people are interested in her story above and beyond the normal draw.

Alrighty then, that is what I was assuming...but you know what they say about that! She has a big enough fan base that she should go far in this, I am going to say It is between her and Shawn Johnson.

No, they all just danced for the first time. I haven't watched since Season 1- so I can't remember if they have a results episode and a new dancing episode or how they do it. But it will happen next week.

Denise looked good! I have not been watching. Did I miss Melissa or are they going to always put her near the end to keep the Melissa fan group from turning the dial?

Denise did look amazing! I was so happy for her..she seems to be enjoying it more this week! No Melissa yet. They've said she's "coming up next..." a few times. But I think they will string us along as long as possible to keep viewers.

I realize this is a quiet thread tonight... But Jason and Molly must be watching tonight and feeling like losers.
molds13#88
So Steve-O got hurt too? This is like a nightmare season for injuries. How does this work, anyway? Is someone getting voted off tonight?

If I understand correctly, tomorrow night is elimination night. Based on viewer's votes, and a total of scores from last week and this week a bottom two (unsure on the bottom number) to dance to stay on. If you watched SYTYCD ever...it seems very similar to "dancing for your life" as they call it.
ColiesMom#91
Go Melissa...I am a huge fan.
