Behind the Screen: The Challenge: What Ifs

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

What if the Vets on Gauntlet III had listened to Bananas and threw Easy into the gauntlet vs Evan; since they ended up playing Sliders I think Evan still would have won. Without Easy, the main narrative for The Gauntlet III is nonexistent, how could they have possibly edited the final to make it look close when clearly the Easy-less Vets would destroy the Rookies?
Yeah, Evan would have beat Eric. And I feel like if Johnny were there in the final guys elimination maybe CT would convinced the rest of the Veterans to vote him in against Adam who was voted in by the Rookies and the Rookies most likely would have saved Danny because the Rookies know the Veterans didn't want Danny there. So the final challenge guys Veterans team on the Gauntlet III would have been CT, Brad, Kenny, Evan, Danny, and either Johnny or Adam. Then the Veterans would have destroyed the Rookies.

I always wanted to see Danny do good in these challenges. He is actually not that bad in the daily challenges but he is awful in elimination rounds where it counts. He has never been the reason that his team lost a challenge. I think the only time I recall Danny getting DQ'd was on Drop Out from Fresh Meat II but I would blame that on Sandy because she didn't even jump to the bag. I'm sure some people blame him for losing the Rope Burn challenge on The Inferno 3, however he was the one who thought to use the steel wool and battery, he just couldn't get it going. And as far as his eliminations go, he got really bad luck. On Fresh Meat he had a lot of Melinda's things in his bags, The Inferno 3 and The Gauntlet III clearly catered to Davis and Adam, Sandy really **** the bed on Fresh Meat II, and he lost straight up on The Ruins and Battle of the Seasons. Hopefully he'll come back one day and pull a Tyler where he out of nowhere does really well.

What if CT had been on The Gauntlet instead of Norman? Then they could have voted Coral into the final gauntlet instead of Theo. And if she lost, then Real World would have probably won the final.

I doubt it. Coral would have still wrecked Cara, who most people forget is actually awful. The girl was outperformed by Angela of all people in the Xtreme-South Pacific face off.

Angela wasn't that bad though. Robin and Ruthie even said on battle of sexes two that the girls didn't like bc of her personality, not bc she performed bad. However yes, Cara was not good. Lol. Especially on inferno 3 where she barely tried and the few missions she did try Cara did terribly in comparison to the rest of the girls.

Did you see Cara's performance against Theo in Ride Em Cowboy? She looked like she could have stayed on that bull for hours. Coral definitely would have lost to her if that was the game that was drawn.

Cara performed well on I3--she just went slow to let Susie win

Cara beating Elka & Theo in the Gauntlet were unbelievable flukes that should never have happened.
toenails#192
It really was completely absurd that they made Theo's bull rotate so much more quickly and wildly than Cara's. The whole narrative on The Gauntlet was that women can do anything that men can do, but then they shattered that idea by basically handing Cara the win because she's a woman.
El Scorcho#193
What if production hadn't completely and 100% rigged the Bombs Away challenge by dragging CT's rope in the water from the helicopter while all other teams the rope was barely touching the water? Also, what if Johnny, Kenny, Evan, and Wes never came up with the D-Day plan on Rivals?

This right here. Cara's bull was barely going in circles yet Theo's was jerking all over the place. One of the most ridiculous eliminations in Challenge history.
Abstract#195
Yet according to others i'm insane for suggesting that a lot of stuff on this show is rigged. Thank you two for proving my point.
toenails#196
I'm pretty sure nobody has said that the show doesn't rig some things. It's just laughable when people claim that everything on the show is rigged because someone they don't like is succeeding.

It's a shame this would go on to be the final image we would ever see of Theo. He did pretty well as a first time rookie in Battle of the Sexes and he would have made The Gauntlet final if his team wasn't a bunch of idiots. He seemed like he had the potential to be a strong player for seasons to come if he ever would would have returned. I can't help but wonder how he would done on subsequent challenges and if he ever would have gotten a win. It still bums me out that we only saw this guy twice while we continued to see his former RW roomates Aneesa and Tonya over and over again.

Lol but nobody said everything on the show was rigged. I can say for myself I KEPT saying that "not every single bit of the show is rigged" but people saw what they wanted to see. If anything the people who love Johnny were in full force yesterday.

Lol a damn "Johnny hater". I could only dream of giving a **** about Johnny that much to actively "hate" him, and that goes for anybody who I might dislike. People on this site do too much.

True. But on the bright side it can be pretty entertaining and fun to read.

I'm just laughing at you because you're being hypocritical. You're so desperate to defend yourself, it's hilarious. :highly_amused: Calm down and have a seat, child.

What if Heather/Dustin never had to leave Exes. I wonder how far they would have made it.

Heather said that the challenge they left on (the trivia one) she knew most of the answers so i'm guessing pretty well. Still don't think they would've made the final though

LOL nothing but laughs over here, i've been laughing the entire time at the lot of you & how butthurt some of yall really get over this dying show. sidenote: you must've thought you were doing something, telling me to "have a seat, child". LMAO ok little girl.

I think it's hilarious that apparently we are all Johnny fans whe there are only two or three:JEKfan, Jl89710, and JayTree. It's just funny how DA always tries to degrade anything Johnny does well in. Or anytime anyone someone he doesn't like, does well. I think Heather and Dustin would have done well in missions, but probably struggled in an elimination round.

The only one who is butthurt is you, lmao. You clearly are not laughing, especially since you were bothered enough to make that little sidenote. Haha keep trying though, clown. You're entertaining me. :highly_amused:
