Behind the Screen: The Challenge: What Ifs

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

I think Darrell & Laurel would have won. Kenny & Theresa in 2nd. Landon & Carley in 3rd. Jenn & Noor in last.

Really? Ryan almost did. I think Landon and carley would have still won the final. Unless if theresa is a great runner then I would say Kenny and Theresa could have won.

Why? I'm pretty sure Kenny would have made the final challenge regardless of who his partner was on that challenge. The cast was pretty weak and well, Kenny is Kenny. Its weird to imagine a challenge where he goes home because in 8 challenges he has been sent home once. Plus on top of that Theresa is not half bad, Ryan almost got Theresa to a final, and Landon & Carley won Fresh Meat II and Carley was the worst girl on that challenge.

If Darrell & Laurel were a team they would have won the final over Landon & Carley.

Yeah that's the thing ALMOST. Theresa isn't horrible but she isn't Laurel. and keep in mind that the only reason Ryan and Theresa got as far as they did was because they were a weaker team and because of the fact that they were in the middle for most of the game as far as politics. I wasn't shocked when they lost. But now that you think about it they probably still do make the finals because Kenny had an alliance that will gladly keep him out of the exile so..

Wasn't the last exile determined by the last 2 teams on the last mission?

Kenny & Theresa definitely make the final but if Kenny couldn't beat Landon & Carley with Laurel he wasn't going to beat them with Theresa Theresa's a great athlete even if some people don't see it. Her & Kenny would have been a great team The real question is...who does Darrell side with if he doesn't get targeted first. Probably Kenny which is why I think it was idiotic for Kenny to make the first week deal with Wes

You know what? you're right. I completely forgot about that...but still though that's how they got there right up until that last Exile.

So you're saying Kenny held Laurel back in the final?

I have a good "What if?" that has bothered me for awhile What if no one was sent home due to injury or disqualification on battle of the exes? -There were 13 teams (14 actually since Cara Maria stated there should have been 14 but Nany/Adam were dropped a few days prior) and only 8 challenges. If no one was sent home for reasons other than being eliminated in the dome, there would have been 5 teams at the end. Was there a 9th challenge that was dropped? Would there have been some sort of double elimination? or maybe the final 5 teams would have done something similar to the Duel 2 with the players voting on who goes into the last elimination. Also if there were 14 teams then I definitely wonder how it would have played out. What if on The Ruins or Cuttthroat one team was completely eliminated? - I understand it is unlikely but it is definitely possible, especially when you saw The Ruins. I think on Cutthroat it definitely could have happened. One team could have lost all 10 players in the first 5 challenges if they lost every challenge and elimination. What would happen then? You would have 2 teams competing now and how would elimination work. I mean the team who wins is safe so what happens to the team that lost? They have no one to vs. These kinda situations make me believe that they do sort of rig some things to make sure certain people do stay in the game. Also if one team on The Ruins was eliminated what would have happened?

Then there wouldn't be a final the champions would have just won probably

I think Beth would have made it pretty far in the Duel if they hadn't screwed her over with that "unclip the flag" rule after she clearly won. I don't see anyone beating her at "Push Me" except maybe Jodi (who was almost always safe from the Duel anyway) and she would definitely beat Kina/Diem/Robin at "Pole Wrestle". Her biggest weakness would be "Ascender", and "I Can" is always a toss up (though she has more upper body strength than Kina/Diem/Robin anyway as seen from "Rickshaw Races" in the Gauntlet 2). Aneesa and Beth wouldn't choose each other for a Duel since they were in an alliance. I've always wondered what would have happened if Veronica and Syrus had won their Ruins since Veronica was trying to rally up the troops to overthrow JEK. She already had Syrus on her side and another "what if" is a scenario in which Derrick isn't such a JEK slave and joins Veronica and Syrus (one can only dream). My biggest "what if": What if the producers had allowed Jaime to give Veronica his lifesaver in BotS after her dramatic elimination? That would have been gold.

I am definitely curious as to how things would have played out if Adam/Nany got to participate on Exes. That season was already great the way it was, but they would have added a whole other element if they were there. It would have been interesting to see if Adam was still his old bonehead self and how things would have gone over with him and Ty crossing paths for the first time since Rivals. They probably would have been one of the rockier teams from a relationship angle, so I wonder how well they would have been able to work together. The one thing I wonder about with Cutthroat is what would have happened if Emily lost to Paula in the last elimination, leaving Jenn as the only member of the blue team left for the final. That final was impossible for a 2 person team to win, which makes me wonder what would have happened if it was only Jenn. Would they have put her out there to fend for herself or would they have possibly added her to the team that had less players left?

What if force field was the first mission on battle of the seasons, what team would have won?
CHIblackhawk#139
What if Darrell was the 3rd Ruins nominee along with Johnny and Derrick instead of Syrus in episode 6 of The Ruins. This whole scenario is assuming Darrell wasn't willing throw himself in like he was against Cohutta in episode 7. Johnny threw Syrus under the bus during that deliberation and Derrick just stood there and went along with it in a very cowardly fashion even though he knew Johnny was the one that should have been going in. Syrus didn't do much to defend himself either, he just let Johnny walk all over him without putting up a fight at all. I would love to see what would have happened if Johnny tried pulling that nonsense on Darrell. I doubt Darrell would have just allowed this lying down like a wimp. There's a good chance Darrell would have gotten in Johnny's face and let him have it opposed to Syrus who did absolutely nothing. It would be very interesting to see whose side Derrick would have taken if this were the case since he was down with the JEK alliance but Darrell was also one of his closest friends on the show as well. There never appeared to be any friction between Darrell and Johnny, but I have always wondered if Johnny would have had the balls to try that garbage Darrell and how it would have gone down if he did.

He wouldn't have lol a lot of these "tough" dudes on the show know who to try stuff with & who not to.

What if Aneesa didn't tell Evelyn to get her muddy *** out of her weave after she was eliminated in Rivals I?

Evelyn would have still thought only one thing when it comes to Aneesa: irrelevant. A great competitor will never lose sleep over trash.

If both Darrell/Aviv and Coral/Evan were in the final, it would have definitely come down to the puzzles. Even though Darrel clearly was the best team over Tina and Wes, they were able to dominate that final because they got the first puzzle on their third (?) try and the second puzzle on their first (?) try. Not sure how good Coral/Evan are good at puzzles. Forgot who was doing that puzzle during the Ruins (Evan or Susie). Regardless who was competing, 50/100/150 pounds makes a huge deal. What if Jonna went in the elimination round against Sam instead of Jasmine? Assuming the Jonna beat Sam and the rest of the teams stayed the same, who would win the final? Frank/Ashley Dustin/Trishelle Chet/Sarah/JD/Devyn CJ/Jasmine

It was both, but mostly Susie I think. She's the one who got it in the end.

I still think Frank/Ashley would have won, apparently the final catered to 2 person teams. Question: What if this was the final? AShley/Frank/Zach/Sam Chet/Sarah Dustin/Trishelle

What if Kendal was on The Gauntlet? Sarah may not have been targeted and constantly thrown in the way she was if she had a friend like Kendal there to have her back and stick up for her. Kendal was Sarah's best friend on Campus Crawl, so I assume she probably would have been on Sarah's side on this as well. Kendal voluntarily stepped up for an inferno, so there's a good chance she might have even taken a bullet or two for Sarah and gone into some of those gaunlets herself if the road rules team still tried to use Sarah as their sacrificial lamb. Does anybody think Sarah would have been targeted less if Kendal was there to defend her?

I think Kendal could've defended her all she wanted, but unless Kendal was stepping up and going into those Gauntlets herself, they probably would've just continued using Sarah as their sacrificial lamb.

What if Danny was on the Good Guys and Johnny was on the Bad ***** on The Inferno 3? How would that have affected the teams in the final?
