Behind the Screen: The Challenge: Rivals - Adam Royer

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

Are you referring to on the shows or in real life, or both?

Both, to an extent. Clearly some of these people are who they are on television in order to attract ratings. I have heard stories of some people being very different from their on camera persona. They know what works. So while someone may be a tool on television, they may be completely different in real life. I have not heard this about Adam. Ever.

I used to think he was somewhat cute up until i saw him with his shirt off. Not a pretty sight imo.
Is it because he has hair on his body?

He was very scrawny and awkward looking. And the hair didn't help either, not a good look for him. He should shave imo. And im just referring to what i saw on RW, which was filmed last year. So i have no idea how his body is now but im guessing it can't be too tight since they had him keep his shirt on in the photo shoot.

He probably kept the shirt on by preference. And based on that video you posted, his body actually isn't that bad (and he has shaved his chest) User image

He's a pretty big tool and I can't stand him, but I do think he's pretty attractive and his body doesn't bother me at all... hair or not.

I've never looked forward to the start of a challenge series as much as this one. I just can't wait to see exactly how this jacka** gets pwned by the veterans. Hopefully I won't be let down.

I'm looking forward to Adam on this challenge! He's the only one from his cast, other than Cooke, that I like!

I agree with what his roommates said, he's a sociopath. I could see how he could be charming when he's sober, though, and he's entertaining to watch.

I thought that was Mike talking about Dustin at the reunion. Who knows. Its all so mixed up in my head these days. Just glad the season is done. I like Adam either way (I just wouldn't recommend to any girl I care about to hook up with him).

I believe Naomi said it about Adam. I don't like Adam at all, but after the reunion I feel like this is similar to the conflict between Dustin and Mike. Despite the fact that Dustin is so immature and annoying, Mike's arrogant and nit-picking attitude makes it hard to be 100% on his side. Nany plays the martyr and Adam is a lot more calm about the conflict, so it's hard to be on Nany's side. In any case, I'm excited to see what will happen. I don't know why, I feel like he will get along with CT.

I think he and CT probably have compatible personalities. I don't think Adam is a sociopath. I think he cares but is inconsistent to the point of shooting himself in the foot and very guarded emotionally. I am guessing he, like most people, probably hides what he is really feeling behind some believable other reason as a defense mechanism.

I have a feeling that Adam was calm about it to further aggravate Nany, who you could tell was getting quite heated on the subject.

I have a lovely exchange with an Adam Royer clone last night in Boston. Drunk off his ***, knocks over a table, gets in a girl's face, then 5 minutes later comes by my table and starts smashing **** and getting in my peoples' faces. So I put him in a headlock with one arm while holding my drink in the other. In any event...it sucks that people like this exist. I'm all for drinking and going crazy, but once you start breaking stuff on purpose, it ceases to be acceptable behavior. Someone got killed in Boston last year because somebody else whipped a glass across the bar and a shard caught them in the neck. Destructive drunks are always the worst kind. One would hope this guy Adam has learned a thing or two by watching himself on TV, but judging from things I'm hearing, he hasn't changed one bit. Pathetic.

Just in case AJHill was wondering if that was the actual Adam Royer and not a clone :D I would have given him so many more points if it were actually him.

No it wasn't really him...just one of his many idiotic mimics. And I agree, it would have been so much more awesome if it was really Adam, and I'd probably have a statue erected in my honor. I'm also wondering where the hell the bouncers were in all of this since this kid busted a couple things on the table, threw a couple haymakers, and I had to stand there immobilizing this idiot waiting for the other people I was with to go find a bouncer. Isn't their job to make sure **** like this doesn't happen? They're lucky I was there. Yes, the Bruins lost. Yes, it sucked. But there's no reason to behave like that, especially if you're out in public. It seems that people like Adam and this guy will never learn. I have my crazy drunken nights, but usually the worst thing I do is make a few inappropriate comments or smack a random girl's *** because I thought she was my friend. I've never felt the need to just start smashing bottles everywhere and then trying to pick fights.

BOTH Adam and Dustin seem to have something off. Their behavior and affect seems to go beyond the usual reality trainwreck combo of dramaqueening and/or excessive drinking and/or excessive recreational activity that makes a usually more normal individual look bat**** crazy. I'm not saying they have some type of personality disorder or are hopeless **********, because I don't know them. We're only seeing maybe about 5% of who they really are, and edited to boot. (This is also why I use the phrase "seem to".) But the way they seem to lie without batting an eyelash, manipulate others (especially those they know genuinely care about them, easier to exploit), and that dead look in their eyes certainly gives me the heebie jeebies. Adam was only calm at the reunion because he was trying REALLY hard to present himself a certain way. He wanted to look like the cool playa rather than the ********* ******* that got kicked to the curb by the Hard Rock, the show, and Nany, all on camera. He wanted to get under Nany's skin, that was obvious, by trying to make it look like he wasn't into her and just played her. Because that's the character he desperately wants to be. When in reality, he's just a sad drunk who dates teenagers so he can keep them under his control. And, he's got the beadiest eyes I've ever done seen.

My wife, who is a behaviorist, calls his eyes "serial killer eyes." I can't argue the point with her.

I didn't notice it until rewatching the reunion, but something weird went on with his eyes in one shot. It was like his right eye was looking a little up and to the right and his left eye was looking a little down and toward the left. I am not sure if that is what they mean by cross-eyed but it was a little freaky. I believe it was right before a break but would have to rewatch it to point to exact moment it happened.

The reunion should be online if you want to watch it again.

but seriously, on his twitter page he is making comments about hosting Sweet 16 parties and has already hosted at least one. What is the age of consent up north again? Stupid parents.

Throwing a lavish sweet 16 party with a celebrity guest is a statement about questionable parenting independent of who the guest is, but yeah, WTF!
