Behind the Screen: The Challenge: Free Agents - Johnny Bananas Devenanzio

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

Good luck Bananas. I hope he pulls out another win...

The Challenge: Free Agents - Johnny Bananas Devenanzio

Youssarian ·
Johnny Bananas may be one of the most legendary players in Challenge history, but this vet isn't sure he has enough gas left in his tank. After coming in second to his nemesis CT on Rivals II, four-time champion Bananas found it to be a humbling experience. He concedes, "You learn more in defeat than you do in victory. And, I learned a lot about myself." Arriving in Uruguay as a Free Agent with no alliance, Bananas knows he has an uphill battle ahead of him. Bananas confesses, "I'm just hoping that luck's on my side." His fellow Challengers may call him "Grandfather Bananas," but this wily veteran could still have a few tricks up his sleeve.

Johnny is actually a lot better without the podcast with Derrick. I liked him when he first started, and i guess the non stop excuses and ***** talking on the podcast with Kenny, grew tiresome. But i kind of like him again. I think him and CT are not quite friends off the show like they were after exes, i think JB holds a huge grudge on things, and ct trying to throw him in on rivals 2 i don't think JB got over well. They are cool still with each other just not buddy buddy...Plus if i was CT i'd be kind of mad how often he talked crap about me to Diem on rivals 2 on those interviews. It was A LOT

I used to hate his mouth too, but I think like his relationship with CT, it's grown to become a respect thing.

Ugh. Johnny gets more obnoxious with each season. Time has also not been his friend as he looks around 45 years old now. No win for you Johnny!
timster3#11
I HATED him for so long. But just because he was so quiet on Rivals II I like him a lot more now so I don't mind him winning. I just hate when he's in control and gets all the air-time. He's much better when he's layed back.

Agreed. The only people that I'd be more disappointed winning would be Frank (do I need to explain why?), Johnny R. (couldn't stand him on the Portland season) and CT (the word "*********" doesn't do him justice). I hope Leroy ended up winning. But that's just me.

Has anybody seen Johnny's new blog, it's got cool stuff on it. If you are a Johhny fan you could take a look on it, he has got a awesome video of him preparing for Battle of the Exes.

Yeah I checked out his website and it is pretty cool. I loved that video to kind of see what he does for the show. I hope he posts more videos! Also I liked all the pictures from the free agents house.

I'm ok with CT winning because I do like him, but I'd prefer a rookie or a vet that hasn't won yet (like Dustin or Leroy) win this time. I feel like this new format gives people who aren't that good at the politics side of the game a better chance at winning. It would be super lame if one of the expected people ends up winning again. Talk about a predictable ending to an otherwise suspenseful season.

I Just watch johnny's video about him preparing for exes, and he said that he injured his back on the T bone elimination when CT hit him, that he needs to stretch it all bc the pain comes now and then and also to prevent further injuries.I thought the hit CT did was hard but I didn't know it was that bad to cause him an injury.
hannamez8#21
Yeah when he mentioned that I didn't even realize it was that bad. Especially after him and Tyler won, he was just lying on the ground looking dead. I thought he was just gassed out but obviously it was something serious. I kind of felt bad for him.
WESANDNANYFAN#22
Yeah I didn't know it was that bad either. Poor Bananas :( He took the video down though.

Aw, it was a pretty interesting video. Overall it was great seeing old photos from past seasons. Hope he would post more.

According to Johnny Rivals I did a number on him. Besides the back injury he said that from the final alone he had stress fractures in his feet and strained MCLs and PCLs. The way he spoke about it it was harder than the Exes final.

I love Wes and I hate Johnny, but after the first episode where he wanted to get someone strong out I am rooting for him because he is playing with a bunch of idiots

Lol CT is GOAT I seriously want to know how Tyler didn't suffer any serious injuries since CT basically went to town with him and rocked his world. CT was a machine in that Challenge.

Because Johnny was flown and hit his back first against those rocks, while Tyler just falls down as he gets pushed from the chest.
JL81790#28
Yeah I don't think the injury came from the impact CT had on him...if you look Johnny's lower back took most of the hit off the rocks. That's what messed him up.

Is Johnny the one on the left or right?

The right. He's the one with the yellow ball. Tyler just falls down on the ground...Johnny crashes into the rocks.
toenails#31
How did CT manage to clip Johnny while still getting his shoulder into Tyler? It kinds of looks like he punched Johnny in the chest lol.
