Behind the Screen: Big Brother Canada

Big Brother remains one of the most-watched summer staples in American television, with its unique format of 24/7 live feeds giving superfans an unmatched window into the social dynamics of the game.

The show's blend of strategic gameplay, showmances, and blindsides has fueled one of the most dedicated online fanbases in reality TV — and Vevmo has been at the center of that conversation for years.

I don't live in Canada unfortunately, but I'm hoping to watch this version online. I tried to watch CBBUK but I couldn't get into it...

I think this is copying the US format, so should be a lot better.

Are Canadians already able to watch the US version (live on TV I mean)? If so, that's not fair that Canada (and other countries) are always able to watch US shows, but the US never shows non-American shows.

Yes, we get full access to all BB shows, 3 days a week, including live ones, and access to live feeds. We can also partake in polls and voting. The U.S. gets the rights to a lot of Canadian shows if they wish (Rookie Blue is Canadian made, but abc bought distributing rights). Canada and the U.S have shared tv rights for as long as i've known and broadcast most of them simultaneously. I'm sure if they want to show BBCanada in the states they can. The question just remains... do they want to invest in it?

Canada get access to all BB shows you said? Is that just US or does that include the other international versions? And I just mean there's a lot of non-US shows I would like to watch but can't because they either don't show them in the US or they do show them in the US but it's on channels I don't get.

Am I seeing things or did you just say that UKBB, the originator (lol) was not good? I thougght you would be gung-ho for your version. Also, I think the USA version is okay but after what Julie is did to Holly Robinson and Lena concerning the Talk, I just can't stomach her narrating the USA version any more. In fact BB13 was like the last good season.

ONLY if the use torrents. Sadly it doesn't work the other way around.

Just BBUS lol I wish we got the UK version as well... that would be awesome since I like it so much more! (gotta youtube that **** :P) If you wanna watch a show... torrent it. I know its not proper, but sometimes you have to if you have no other access.

BBCA Live feeds are free in Canada :D kind of stoked for this, even though they didnt pick me.
kinafan2012#11
They'll probably make them free for the first season like they did in U.S. just to see how many people tune in to them, then start charging in future seasons

What did Julie do concerning the Talk??? I've watched BB since season one and I thought Big Brother 14 was an AMAZING season. Didn't really like 13 very much, really lost interest midway through the season. BB6, BB14, BB10 > BB3, BB8 > BB5 > BB12 > BB2 > All Stars > BB9 > BB13 > BB4 > BB11 > BB

Basically she fired Holly Robinson Peete and Leah Remini because they were getting more fanbase than her. A lot of other shady **** went down too and she put Alicia Tyler who isn't even important, well not after 5th Wheel anyway onto the show. The other lady who is on there is okay but I just can't deny Julie's pettiness.

Even if you hate Jeff & Jordan (kind of what it looks like) there's no way in the world anyone can objectively say Season 9 was better than anything other than maybe the first season because of the idiotic format. Season 9 was a complete disaster from the get-go. They threw it together at the very last second due to the writer's strike and it was obvious they had no clue what they were doing. BB1 & BB9 are definitely the worse two. I can't even imagine a legit argument against that. BB4 was infinitely better than S9 even if you hate Jun, Alison and the rest of that cast.

Omg I've actually seen some of the international BBs, and whoa some of them aren't ashamed to walk around in the flesh and they don't even censor it in some countries.
202mitch#17
oh yeah for sure!! BBUS is one of the more censored versions... UK has no shame in showing it all (well everything except full frontal lol).... i was so surprised too haha We just aren't accustomed to things like that yet, whereas they are (primetime british teen drama Skins even had nudity)
ishot_JT#18
Haha the one down under, there basically exhibitionist. Ugh I really don't know why as North Americans (yes even Mexico) have such a hard time with nudity on TV. But I do need to check out skins, I've only seen the US one. :/

BB9, with all it's flaws, was a very entertaining season. There was always something crazy going on in there! In terms of just entertainment, it's probably near the top. I'm not the biggest fan of that season, but I can totally see why some people would have it near the top.

Haha! How are you planning on watching this? Whenever it starts can you post a link or message me or something with however you are doing it?
202mitch#21
I will be watching it on TV since I live in Canada haha... but i'll find a youtube channel that posts them... there's usually a few out there that do.
saltvinegar#23
I'm actually more interested in seeing the house than the houseguests! I'm hoping it's more interesting than the US house! I'm actually really excited for this to start, I just hope I can finda a proxy that works so I can watch the feeds!!

BB USA needs to throw everyone into one room like the international versions. I think much more craziness would ensue.
ILoveRW#26
I don't like the fact that the outside area really isn't outside. Apart from that, its looks pretty good.

Yeah, everything looked kinda crammed and closed in to me. I am curious as to what the secret room will be? HOH room, maybe?
202mitch#28
Tonights the night!!! So pumped!! :D Not sure if this link will work for those of you not in Canada but its apparently a live stream for when it's on tonight. Big Brother Canada Stream - BB Nutters EDIT: Also the secret room was revealed to be an actual outdoors area with a hot tub, fireplace, and a lot of slushy snow lol http://www.tbbr.us/archives/5188
202mitch#29
Actually so far a lot better than I expected!! The cast is really diverse... BB's voice is kinda lame but all well I like the BB phone too.
RMD1#30
I'm so happy I can watch the feeds. I thought people were saying we needed a different thing because I'm in America.
