Behind the Screen: Best Fights

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

I do look forward to some day detailing the entire series of events that took place in Brazil and after. What I can tell you is that Beth was not at all intimidated by Tina who relies on her bulk and loud, foul mouth to intimidate people. That has never been an effective strategy vs. Beth. Very few people know that Beth is a trained kick boxer. She waited for Tina to swing at her and then moved her head back and to the right, timed to the speed of the swing. Tina's knuckle connected with Beth's sunglasses which caused an immediate abrasion on her nose and a headache later, not a particularly effective punch. This again is something I have a hard time calling a fight because two people did not fight, only one did, or at least one attempted to. It simply was an assault. The was no way Beth was going to respond physically. From a contract perspective, it made no sense ('cause you go home), and from a strategic perspective, Beth saw it in the moment as just an early duel with the loser being the one who became physical first. One of the more interesting aspects of this event is that Tina had reportedly approached a talent coordinator earlier and inquired if she would still be paid if she hit Beth. That may tell you something about Tina's prior disposition and intent. There were certainly others who found this fact important. There was a police report filed, but Tina left the country, with BMP's assistance, before the Buzios police could interview her. As far as I know, that assault investigation remains open in Brazil.
Wow, that sheds a different light on Tina. I always liked her, but I never knew she was like that. So, my lingering question is, was Tina not allowed to come back to Challenges because of that or was she done with them altogether?

Tina announced on her myspace that she was done with MTV -- that she had moved beyond it in her life. As the result of client confidentiality, I'm unable to comment on what MTV or BMP may have decided, or may have told others they had decided regarding Tina or others in what may be a similar circumstance.

Ah okay. Tina Tina Tina...what a shame. Both of Beth's fights with Montana were funny as well.

how long is the list of people 'done' with mtv other than Tina and Tonya? Does Tina have a skill other than opening her mouth? Maybe she can be a debt collector.

I have always loved Tina. Except for when they picked on Tonya. But I guess I can't hold it against them since almost everybody seems to do it. I did think it was pretty dumb how that was the number one moment though. Everything on that list was better than that moment. Another good fight had to have been Amaya and Veronica. And when Amaya freaking tackled Veronica down it was a great moment.

I thought that TJ's fight with Syrus was kind of funny.

TJ is so unprofessional in my opinion. I don't think he is a good host at all. Fighting with cast members is really dumb if you ask me. But nonetheless, it was a funny fight and I was waiting for Syrus to crush TJ.

I don't dislike TJ, not saying that fighting with the cast members is a good thing. But he seems like a cool guy most of the time and it seems like it would take alot to have him blow up on someone like that. I'm not going to say he's the perfect host, but he's alot better than someone who's not going to interact with the cast at all, good or bad. And I'm not too sure about Syrus crushing him, not saying that he couldn't. But I'm sure TJ's taken a beating once or twice falling off his bike or something.. even though that doesn't make him great at fighting.

Tonya is not done with MTV. Whatever gave you that impression? I could cite a specific example but that would make this a spoiler thread.

Yeah Tonya even said herself on The Inferno 3 Top 10 Moments that "No matter how many times I say I am done, these things are my life and I will still be crippled and doing these."

In my opinion they never have a great host on these things, but really the host doesn't do too much or is really that much in the picture. But the Syrus/TJ fight had to be one of the best.

some reality shows on reality show. Tonya was getting married and said that she was retiring from challenges.

She did and said she was done but she came back anyway and I'm glad because she brings something to the challenges as well.

I think at some point they've all said they are done, but then they get a call and change their minds. And I'm glad Tonya is back too, she always adds drama to the social scene and the challenges as well.

They probably all have. I agree. I am really glad Tonya is back. I always love watching what she brings to the Challenges. I loved the first fight between Katie and Veronica on The Gauntlet. I knew something was building up between the,m.

Katie vs. Veronica on the Inferno was priceless. So awesome. Also mean girls Veronica, Rachel and Tina (and Dan in this case) vs. Jodi after she switched the vote on the Inferno II.

The Aneesa and Trishelle fight holds a special place in my heart mostly because of Trishelle's pathetic ***.

no i heard it was between Kendal, CT, Leah, Mike, abram, etc. unless if you weren't aswering my question.

ewww, she pee'd in her bed!!!! that is just nasty...I am kinda glad they didn't show it because I would have been dying to actually get to see a fight right then and there, and would have been completely disappointed to see Coral let her get away with it.
Coral didn't know it happened till afterwards. I believe David told her about it. She didn't know that it had happened. I would never let anyone pee in my bed and get away with it. I don't know if anyone remembers it, but during the Leah/Kendal Inferno when they all fought each other. Mike was drunk and fought with Kendal. Leah and CT fought. Coral was fighting with Mike. Abram got pissed and was yelling at people. It was mayhem and it was great.

sounds memorable

Classic moment, but it seems tame compared to the fights we see nowadays.
