Behind the Screen: Back to New York: Mike "The Miz" Mizanin

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

I have never cheered so hard for something in wrestling...

I was watching it! I am so happy for him!!! I met him back when he was doing college speaking engagements and he was such a sweet heart. It's awesome when those guys accomplish their life long dreams. :)

He wanted this for so long and came from nothing. He is one of the only few people to use the real world to his advantage. I really think he has staying power.

He definitely does. I see him as the next Rock in a few years. He's already done the second most promotional work in the WWE it seems.

I mentioned it a few months ago, but if you are a longtime Real World fan and wrestling fan, you basically saw Mike go from wanting to be a wrestler..to achieving his dream to tonight putting the cherry on top. Really awe inspiring to be able to literally see a guy chasing his dream like that.

He still has that mouth like he did on the real world. LOL.. Same MIZ.

I would like to see more cast members follow their dreams like this.

One of my favorite wrestling moments in a long time. I'm going to the next PPV too. Seeing Miz as the champ makes it so much better! I'm glad for him. The wrestling business isn't the easiest one to make it big in and he's at the very top of it now. Congrats to 'The Miz'!

The internet wrestling communities are blowing up with this, everyone is quite excited.

Iagree 100%. I remember first seeing him waaay back when, and now look at him. I can only imagine how much he looks back at himself over the years and how well he's gone for himself, all from really starting out on the Real Word. Must seem pretty surreal to him, congrats to him.

I honestly think he should eventually write a book, his past in RW and now WWE would be a fun read.

Apparently the smiley in my headline was no sufficient indicator for sarcasm.

Obviously not. I can't detect sarcasm from a computer. Maybe you should have put the face at the end of the comment.

Sorry if this is already posted somewhere or if he already has a thread (I could have overlooked it). Just ran across this news on TMZ: The Miz won the heavyweight WWE championship! Ex RW Star Wins WWE World Championship It's not my cup of tea, but I'm just so happy for Mike that he not only has his dream job, but he is successful at it as well.
