Behind the Screen: 90210

The reality TV landscape has never been more crowded or more diverse. From dating shows to competition series to docusoaps, networks and streamers are betting big on unscripted content.

What sets the great shows apart is their ability to create genuine moments — the kind of unscripted drama that no writer's room could manufacture. That's what keeps fans coming back.

So I don't know how ture this is, but it sounds pretty believeable and it would be an awesome way to spice up the new story line with some old...
Kelly and Dylan 90210 (2.0) Reunion?! User image OMG, you guys!!!!!! There's a good chance that Luke "Dylan McKay" Perry will appear on 90210 (2.0). So, push aside those reports (for now) that Perry won't be coming back! (2.0) insiders have revealed that Jennie Garth's character, Kelly Taylor, will have a 4-year old son in the spinoff. And the dad is none other than Dylan! In true Dylan style, he's disappeared for awhile but will probs come back in a late season one show to try to win a place back in his son's and Kelly's life. What do y'all think? We loves it! [Image via WENN.]

There was another one that said it may not be true, his rep denied it was going to happen... but it could also be a way for him to get people buzzing about it, in order get more money out of the show...

Actually thought about catching this and watching a bit of it, you know just to see if it was any good. Missed the entire thing and then BB came on so...I might DVR next week or whenever it is on.

The premier was a ratings winner. Here is the story from Media Life Magazine. A sockeroo debut for the CW's '90210' Teen drama averages a 3.0 in target 18-34s By Toni Fitzgerald Sept. 3, 2008 The CW’s reboot of “Beverly Hills, 90210” earned loads of hype, and the ratings lived up to it. The new “90210” scored the best series premiere in network history and pushed the three-year-old channel to a rare primetime victory last night. “90210” averaged a 3.0 in the CW’s target adults 18-34 and a 2.6 in 18-49s, according to Nielsen overnights, winning the night on both measures and tying for the highest-rated evening in network history in the latter. Among 18-34s, it was the network’s third-highest night ever. “90210” became the CW’s highest-rated scripted series in history among those two demos and women 18-34, where it averaged a 4.3. It was also the highest-rated premiere in network history among 18-49s and the highest-rated scripted series premiere among the other demos, no small feat since the show was two hours long. Perhaps most promising for the CW, “90210” grew in virtually all the major demos from its first hour to its second, airing from 8 to 10 p.m., albeit by single-digit percentages. Among total viewers, the show averaged 4.9 million. The CW’s strategy of debuting its shows three weeks before the Big Three seems to be working thus far. Earlier this week, “Gossip Girl” and “One Tree Hill” also set a record for the highest-rated Monday in network history. Still, it will be a few weeks before it becomes clear if the strong initial results were simply sampling or if viewers will stick around. As mentioned above, the CW was first for the night among 18-49s with a 2.6 average overnight rating and a 7 share. Fox was second at 2.4/6, NBC third at 2.3/6, Univision fourth at 1.8/5, CBS fifth at 1.6/4 and ABC sixth at 1.5/4.

Have to say that is impressive and exactly what CW was hoping for since it hadn't done exactly great in some departments I heard. Maybe when it comes on a re-run I will catch it but I think it was nearly 2 hours...yikes.

Yes, they are re-airing the first two eps (2 hr special) tonight! (Thurs).

Okay, i got to watch some of the 2hr episode tonight. Now, I was an avid 90210 fan back in the day so i was really excited. I was a little disappointed. It wasn't 90210 how I remember it, it was more like how Gossip Girl, The Hills and that stuff is. Not that any of that is bad, i just wanted something different, more similar to 90210. I'll still watch it though. I did have one question because I totally missed this part, but can someone explain to me where Kelly and Brenda are at now. I saw Kelly had a baby, who's the daddy? Obviously she's single on the show, but what ever happened with Dylan, was any stuff from the old 90210, addressed in the new 90210?

The "Internet rumor" I keep reading is that the baby is Dylan's. But it doesn't look like Luke Perry will be returning to the new show, (that story changes every day lol).
sofrito#87
does anyone know if tori wil be making a cameo?

So then I'm guessing they didn't touch on the fact of who's the baby's daddy. I'm surprised even with Brenda there.

Tori is out. Once Shannen leaves, however, I think she might change her mind cuz she is friends with Jennie. I watched it. I kinda liked it. I'll tune in for a few more weeks.
