The 85th Academy Awards ceremony is an upcoming event during which the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) will present its annual Academy Awards to honor the best films of 2012 in the United States. The ceremony is scheduled for February 24, 2013, at the Dolby Theatre in the Hollywood district of Los Angeles, California. Seth MacFarlane will host the Academy Awards for the first time. Producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said that the show will pay tribute to the 50th anniversary of the James Bond film series.

Leo's performance as Calvin Candie was so genuinely disgusting that I fully believe Kerry Washington was honestly terrified in their scene together. Those of you who have seen it know what I'm talking about. Tommy Lee Jones was BORING in Lincoln. He was freaking Tommy Lee Jones in a wig. He plays the same guy in every role. He bored the ever living **** out of me in the movie. I know you're all going to tell me I'm delusional, but Tom Hardy was fan-effing-tastic in both TDKR and Lawless. Did the academy even watch Lawless? He was MESMERIZING opposite Jessica Chastain! I'm going to skulk around all day and whine about this.

I don't know if anyone will side with me on this one, but I'm way bummed that "The Intouchables," which is a foreign French Film, wasn't nominated. Hands down the best movie I saw in 2012. Ben Affleck and Kathryn Bigelow not getting nominated was a shock as well. But I'm happy for Benh Zeitlin, because that was very well deserved.

As someone who is involved in the Entertainment Industry, specifically the film world, none of these award shows are in no way boring. I care more than the average person, but they are by no means boring. It's just not your cup of tea, I get that.

Last year's Oscars...I turned it off halfway..and the one year when James Franco and Anne Hathaway hosted...dreadful absolutely dreadful. I guess you're right..they're just not my thing.

Denzel has a shot at beating him, but other than that the other nominees should know they have no shot. It is the same with Best Actress. It is a two horse race between Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence.

I love Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawremce both so so much. However, Jessica Chastain has it. This Oscar is hers. It's one of the only categories I'm satisfied with. She is beyond expectional. There isn't an actress in Hollywood who can out act that woman.

Anne Hathaway - "Les Miserables" Her role in "Les Mis" is way outside of her comfort zone, and her performance is brilliant. Both Sally Field (Lincoln) and Helen Hunt (The Sessions) play themsleves playing their assigned character, and so does Amy Adams in "The Master;" but, even in being herself, Adams is superior to Field and Hunt. While I really enjoy them all equally as actors, Hathaway brings something unique to the role. She is vulnerable yet secure appropriately to her character which is very appealingly flawed. As a vocalist, she achieves something unique...fully blurring the ordinary chasm between musical theatre and the dramatic actor's essential stagecraft.

Well said. If Anne Hathaway doesn't win it's almost sinful. I was disappointed Eddie Redmayne didn't get a nod, but the supporting actor category is JAM PACKED with talent this year.

I'm pulling for either Jennifer Lawrence or Jessica Chastain to take Best Actress. Best Actor Denzel or Daniel. Supporting category I'm hoping Anne Hathaway takes it. I LOVE Anne, and her role in Les Miserables is simply magnificent. I do believe Leo got snubbed, and Ben should have gotten a Best Director nom. I'm liking this years Best Picture list more than last year. I barely saw any of the movies nominated last year, but this time around the academy has gotten it right, although as a fanboy I would have given The Hunger Games a nomination for Best Picture, but that's just fanboy me talking haha, I hope they create a master piece with one of the remaining three films. Best Picture should go to: Life of Pi (that movie was magical to watch, and love the theme of Faith behind it).

As a huge Hunger Games fan, myself, there is no way it should ever get a nomination for Best Picture. The movie just isn't as worthy as the book, in my opinion. The acting was okay (I don't really think it was casted that well, other than Jennifer Lawrence and Woody Harrelson) and the Cinematography made me want to turn my head. It won't ever be nominated for Best Picture, mark my words. As for what will get Best Picture, I personally think it will go to Lincoln, but I think Amour or Life of Pi definitely deserve it the most. I want it to go to Zero Dark Thirty or Beasts of the Southern Wild, but I doubt it will.

Yeah I know, it's just wishful thinking from my part. It's going to go down in the Harry Potter route, and not get recognized by the academy. As long as they avoid the "razzies" I'm happy. I haven't seen Amour, since you believe it deserves it I'm going to give it a shot.
