Behind the Screen: 16 and Pregnant

For over two decades, MTV's The Challenge has been the proving ground where reality TV's fiercest competitors come to cement their legacies. What started as a Real World/Road Rules spinoff has evolved into one of the most physically and mentally demanding competition series on television.

The franchise's expansion — with spinoffs in the USA, UK, Argentina, and Australia — speaks to a global appetite for the brand of cutthroat competition and alliance-driven gameplay that Vevmo's community has been tracking since 2007.

I like the show and I like some of the music. What ****** me off is what the people(mostly females) say about them...

No, they aren't all actually 16. It's just a catchy name for the show. A girl that goes to my old high school just got casted to be on the new season. She is going to be a senior in the fall and I believe is turning 17 in August, possibly even 18, not really sure.
Yeah, I guess MTV isn't really so set on ages when they have shows that imply a certain age - like My Super Sweet Sixteen has people turning ages other than 16 on it, etc.

I like the show and I like some of the music. What ****** me off is what the people(mostly females) say about them. Calling them ***** is idiotic. I bet they aren't virgins themselves. Just because a girl gets pregnant does not mean that she is a ****. I have yet to see many people call any of the boys tools. There are a couple who really need to grow up. Their young, but O'well.

Hmm, I've yet to hear any of the girls referred to that way.

Yeah,I was watching an episode online(I rarely watch MTV on television) and I saw the comments.

I want to adopt Catelynn and Tyler. The funny this is my brother and I started to watch it the one day and before he even seen the episode with Catelynn and Tyler, he was like "That kid's a tool." After he watched it he was very moved.

Re: Farrah's baby daddy, I read in numerous other message boards that he died in a car accident like in December -a couple of months before the baby was born.

Did they mention him at all in the reunion show?

Nope. Wonder if his parents will try to contact Farrah though? I would think they'd want to be a part of that baby's life, especially now since they lost their son.

I would hope that Farrah lets them see the baby, especially because thats all they have left of their son.

Yeah. I found it strange that if that is the case (him being killed) why she wouldn't mention that on the reunion, not just keep saying she's better off without him. That's kinda harsh...

Yeah, real harsh. To be honest, Farrah is one of the girls I didn't care for. Initially, a lot of people thought this show was "glamorizing" teen pregnancy when I thought it was just the opposite. I guess the only glamorizing part would be living with your b/f during HS, lol. My mom be like HELL NO, even If I was pregnant during school.

I know, right? I was thinking to myself "Umm...isn't that how you got into this mess in the first place?"

I was actually shocked. Everybody I knew that was pregnant in high school still lived with parents, and not with their boyfriends. And that engagement ring? $21.40? WTF?

Right! Shoot I'm 27, have been living with my bf for 2 years, and I think my dad still likes to believe we have separate bedrooms...

Yeah, I get that you don't want to spend a butt load when you are having a baby, but seriously, if you can drop $500 on a new game system you can drop at least 100 on a ring! Lame. My mom would be ok with the bf staying with us/me staying with the bf and his fam if I got pregnant in HS just so he would be involved and help during the pregnancy but NO WAY would she let us get our own apt until we graduated!

Shoot, my parents would make me wait until I got married... Oh, the things they think.

Well I'm going to be 21 in a few days but I get what you mean. My parents are strict when it comes to the opposite sex. My ex-boyfriend of 3 years had to sleep outside in a camper when he came to visit me from NY once. lol.

Graduating HS would be the earliest possible time but I am pretty sure they would have wanted me to wait until I was 21 if I was in a similar situation.

All I watched was when the girl was in labor. I heard about him sticking up to his parents, but I didn't get to see it. I just though the crying was a little overboard expecially since the girl [with the baby I don't know her name] wasn't crying as much. Then I saw some parts of the reunion show and he was crying there too!!

Why shouldn't he cry. What he went through is one of the hardest ordeals anyone would ever have to go through.
UrbanTactics#60
That's very true, but he wasn't the one in labor yet he cried more then the girl in labor.

Whats wrong with him crying? He just gave up his child, he has every right to cry as much as his girlfriend.
